TEMPRANILLO ROUTE (4 DAYS OR MORE)

DAY 1 MADRID – CORDOBA

Departure at the scheduled time for Cordoba. Arrival. Lunch and Tour of the city, historic center, the Jewish Quarter, the Roman Bridge, the Calahorra Tower, the Guadalquivir River, the ancient walls of the city, the Roman Temple. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 2 CORDOBA

Breakfast. Tour of the Mosque. The Mosque -Aljama- of Cordoba is the most splendorous monument of the Muslim period in all of the West. Its construction was begun in the period in which Abd-al-Rahmán makes Cordoba the capital of Al-Andalus, in the year 785. Lunch. In the afternoon time to explore and enjoy the streets of this lovely city. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 3 CORDOBA- TEMPRANILLO ROUTE – CORDOBA

Breakfast. Departure to begin a walk through the Tempranillo Route that runs through the towns of Jauja – Lucena, Badolatosa, Corcoya and Alameda, belonging to the provinces of Seville, Cordoba and Málaga. Lunch during the tour in a restaurant. In these three very close towns  (maximum of 16 kilometers), the life of the bandit named José María Pelagio Hinojosa Cobacho, nicknamed “El Tempranillo,” played out.  He is one of the most important and mythical figures in Andalusia. The Tempranillo Route follows the most important elements in the vital itinerary of the most famous  Andalusian and Spanish bandits: José María, the Tempranillo. In Jauja we find the birth home of José María, El Tempranillo and the Church of Saint Joseph, in whose interior stands the baptismal font in which he was baptized. Badolatosa is connected to the life of El Tempranillo through the Genil River, which gives this town its strategic location so that El Tempranillo could carry out attacks and hide when they were being chased. In Corcoya, we find the hermitage of Fuensanta, in whose surroundings we find the Caves that José María, El Tempranillo used when he went to see the witch doctor of this hermitage; in the hermitage of Fuensanta, José María, El Tempranillo received the pardon of King Fernando VII. In Alameda we find the Cortijo de Buenavista, where the bandit nicknamed El Barberillo betrayed and killed José María, El Tempranillo, from behind. In the patio of the Alameda Church is the tomb of the King of Sierra Morena. Return to Cordoba. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 4 CORDOBA- MADRID

Breakfast and departure for Madrid. END OF TRIP
