Route of the Pyrenees

DAY 1 MADRID – STO. DOM. CALZADA – NAJERA – CENICERO – LOGROÑO – Mº IRACHE – BRIDGE OF THE REINA – OLITE – PAMPLONA Meet at the agreed upon time to leave in coach for Santo Domingo de la Calzada, with its Bridge and Romanesque Cathedral-ogival with a Baroque tower with the saint’s sepulchre. Continuation to Nájera, location of the Monastery of Santa María the Real with the Pantheon of the Kings of Navarre. Lunch en route. We will pass through Cenicero for Logroño with its beautiful Cathedral, and continue on to the Monastery of Irache. Afterwards we will arrive to the Bridge of la Reina (the Queen) on Saint Jame’s Way. In Olite we will contemplate the magnificentnt palace that was the Residence of the Court, along with the Church of Saint Mary. Arrival toPamplona. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 2 PAMPLONA – LEIRE – CASTILLO DE JAVIER– PANTANO YESA – SOS DEL REY CATOLICO – EJEA CABALLEROS – CASTLE LOARRE – S. JUAN PEÑA – JACA Breakfast and after a brief walk through the city, we will continue on the road to Leire, imposing monastery that had its apogee in the eleventh and twelfth centuries. We will pass the Castle of Xavier and arrive to the Marsh of Yesa from where a splendid panorama can be appreciated. We will continue on to Sos del Rey Católico, having Lunch en route. Next we will see Ejea de The Caballeros and arrive to the medieval castle of Loarre. In San Juan de the Peña we will view the Romanesque monastery where the pantheon of the kings and noble families of Aragón and Navarre is found. Finally we will arrive in Jaca, at the foot of the Peña (Rock) of Oroel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 3 JACA – ORDESA Breakfast and d eparture for Sabiñanigo, traveling through Huesca on the road to Barbastro, having Lunch en route and contiuing the journey to visit the Shrine of towercity. Then Arrival to Ordesa. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 4 ORDESA – PONT DE SUERT – PARK AIGÜESTORTES – TREMP Breakfast and tour of the National Park of Ordesa, created to protect the natural beauty of the surrounding area, Continuation to Pont de Suert. Lunch, Then we will visit the Nation Park of Aigüestortes, in the Leridian Pyrenees with the impressive Saint Maurice Lake, finally arriving toTremp where the remnants of the walls and the Church of Saint Mary of Valdeflors stand out. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 5 TREMP – SEO D`URGELL – ANDORRA Breakfast and departure for Seo d`Urgell, taking a brief stroll through this city in order to see the Romanesque Cathedral that dates from the 12th century. We will have Lunch en route, and continue the jouney to Andorra. Arrival, dinner and lodging.

DAY 6 ANDORRA Breakfast and departure to visit the parishes of Andorra, where we will see the Shrine of Miritxell, patron saint of Andorra, Escamp, with its famous Romanesque parish of SaintEulalia, the Massana and Ordino, where the Central Square, the Casa Rosell and the Museum Areny Plandolit stand out. Lunch en route. Return to hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 7 ANDORRA – RIBES DE FRESSER – VIC – MONTSERRAT – POBLET – LERIDA Breakfast and departure for Ribes de Fresser, continuing afterward on to Vic with its Parador nestled in beautiful countryside. Continuation to Montserrat where will we visit its monastery. We will have Lunch en route and then continue on to the Monastery of Poblet, Arrival to Lérida. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 8 LERIDA – ZARAGOZA – CALATAYUD – SORIA – STO. DOMINGO DE SILOS – MADRID Breakfast and departure for Zaragoza where we will see the Monastery of the Pilar, the Cathedral of the See, the Alcaicería. Continue on to Calatayud, ancient Roman Bibilis, and later Muslim Castle de Ayub. Lunch and continuation through Soria on the way to Silos, whose Benedictine monastery features one of the jewels of Spanish Romanesque architecture. Continuation to Madrid. End of services
