DAY 1 MADRID – DAMASCUS Meeting in Madrid-Barajas Airport to leave on a flight to Damascus. Arrival in Damascus. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 2 DAMASCUS Breakfast and day dedicated to visit this impressive city. We will begin with the National Archaeological Museum where we will be able to discover a large part of the history from the first anals of human existence. Continuation to Azm Palace, where we will be able to have a very approximate idea of how they lived and of the Damascenes custums. The Mausoleum of Saladin and The Great Umayyad Mosque, one of the most impressive constructions dedicated to Muslim worship, The Straight Street, the Chapel of Saint Ananias, the Window of Saint Paul and a walk through its impressives souqs. Lunch. Free time. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 3 DAMASCUS-PALMYRA Breakfast and departure for Palmyra. Arrival and beginning of the Tour of the desert capital. Palmyra has to its credit one of the best Historic Monumental Groupings in all of the area. Its ruins are spectacular and Its level of conservation is quite high. Rhe Temple of Bel, the Triumphal Arch, the Great Colonnade, the Agora, and the theater are worth pointing out. We will also visit the tombs, curious burial constructions. Lunch. In the afternoon we can take an optional walk through the palm grove or a tour of the fortress. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 4 PALMYRA-CRAC DE LOS CABALLEROS-HAMA-ALEPPO Breakfast and departure for Homs, industrial city in the center of Syria, and continuation to the Crac de los Caballeros. Tour of the impressive castle-fortress from the period of the crusades. Lunch. Continuation to Hama, agricultural city situated in the center of the country, famous for its wooden water wheels, artifacts still today in use to lift the water and allow the the irrigation of higher lands. Continuation to Aleppo, the second city of Syria. Arrival. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 5 ALEPPO-SAINT SIMEON-ALEPPO Breakfast and beginning of the city tour. The Citadel, base of Arabic military architecture, The Great Mosque of the Umayyads, sacred place of religion and worship. Then in the vicinity of Aleppo, we will visit the Basilica of Saint Simeon the Anchorite (one of the dead cities). Basilica in Byzantine style, that was practically five centuries ahead of its time. Return to Aleppo. Lunch. Free time in order to take a walk through its streets and especially through its famous souqs, one of the largest and most impressive in the Arabic world, with its more than 14 km of streets, businesses, flavor, aroma, etc. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 6 ALEPPO- APHAMEA-SERJELLEH-MALOULA-DAMASCUS Breakfast and departure for the South. En route, we will visit the Greco-Roman ruins of Aphamea, one of the most interesting in the country. Continuation to Serjelleh (Sergilla) Modesta and small city in the agricultural area, that conserves a Necropolis, a church, thermal baths etc. Lunch. Continuation to Maloula, small town constructed literally hanging from the mountains, where we will visit the Monastery of Saint Sergius and the Convent of Santa Tecla. In addition this city is famous because even today, they speak Aramaicse, the language in which Jesus Christ spoke. Continuation to Damascus. Arrival. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 7 DAMASCUS-BOSRA-JERASH-PETRA Breakfast and departure for Bosra to visit the famous theater with a capacity of 17,000 spectators, with good acoustics and above all, with with exceptional evacuation capabilities for the period. Continuation to the Syrian-Jordanian border. Border procedures. Continuation to Jerash, one of the cities of the Decapolis. Jerash lies to the North of Amman. We highlight the Triumphal Arch, the Oval Forum, the Cardo Maximus, the colonnade, the Temple of Aphrodite and ending with the Roman theater, with its marvelous acoustics. Lunch. Then departure for Petra. Arrival. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 8 PETRA-AMMAN Breakfast. Full day dedicated to a tour of the pink city, the capital of the Nabataeans. During the tour, we will get to know the most important and representative monuments sculpted in the rock by The Nabataeans. The Treasury, famous and internationally known monument brought to the screen in one of the Indiana Jones films, the Royal Tombs, the theater, the Monastery. Petra is one of those places of the world that has to be seen once in life. Lunch and in the afternoon, return to Amman. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 9 AMMAN-MADABA-MOUNT NEBO-MAR MUERTO-BETHANY-DAMASCUS Breakfast and departure for Madaba, nearby town about 35 km. from Amman, to visit the Orthodox Church of Saint George, site of the first mosaic-map of Palestine. Continuation to Mount Nebo to admire the panoramic view of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea from the mountain and the mosaics of the hermitage. Continuation to Bethany (baptism of Jesus) and the Dead Sea, the the lowest point on earth, situated 400 meters below the level of the sea. Its salinity and its minerals offer curative possibilities for different illnesses, as well as for the manufacture of cosmetic products. Bath possibility. Lunch. Afternoon departure for the border and Damascus. Arrival in last hora of the afternoon. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 10 DAMASCUS-MADRID Breakfast. Transfer to the airport at the scheduled time . Check in and boarding procedures. Arrival in Madrid and END OF TRIP.
