MYSTERY OF THE CATHEDRALS

DAY 1 MADRID – PARIS Meeting in the airport to embark on a flight to Paris. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 2 PARIS  Breakfast. In the morning we will visit “the City of Light,” in which we highlight the Place de la Concorde, the Opera, the Plaza Etoile with the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, symbol of France and de Paris. Lunch. Boarding at the Lena port to take a boatride on the Seine. As the boat glides beneath the romantic bridges of Paris, we will enjoy the celebrated monuments that are concentrated on its banks. Then climbing to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, we will have a singular and gorgeous view of Paris. We will finish the day with a walk through Montmartre, traveling through Tertre Square with its painters and the Sacred Heart. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 3 PARIS Breakfast. Departure for take a tour of Versailles: the the most sumptuous in the world, the remembers the past glory of the French court and faithful reflexion of the will of a king, Louis XIV, the Sun King; its beautiful gardens and fountains and its marvelous Hall of Mirrors stand out. Lunch. Afternoon free. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 4 PARIS – SAINT DENNIS – SENLIS – SOISSONS – LAON – REIMS Breakfast. The true tour of the Gothic Cathedrals begins with the Île–de–France, and with the departure from Paris we will pass through where the Gothic has its most localized beginning, the Church of Saint Dennis. In addition to this artistic milestone, the abbey has been the Mausoleum of the kings of France. After visiting it, we will head toward nearby Senlis. Begun in 1153 and consecrated in 1191, we will direct our attention to the sculptures of the portico, whose relieves dedicated to the Virgin serve as a model to future Gothic works such as Amiens. DAY 5 REIMS Breakfast. Tour of Reims, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The baptism of Clovis I, the coronation of the son of Charlemagne, seem to be reason enough to understand the importance capital of this city and its cathedral, where the rest of the French kings also had to be crowned. DAY 6 REIMS- TROYES – SENS- ORLEANS Breakfast. Departure for Troyes. The picturesqueness of its streets will surprise you. The Cathedral stands out due to its 1500 m2 of windows, true image book from the 12th century. The city has other monuments like the Church of the Magdalena. Lunch. Departure for Sens, where we find the first truly Gothic cathedral, which is conserved in perfect shape. Departure for Orleans. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 7 ORLEANS- CHARTRES – ROUEN Breakfast. Orleans is a city connected to the memory of Joan of Arc upon liberating it from the English in 1429. After a short tour the great Cathedral of Chartes awaits us. From every every perspective the Cathedral fo Chartres is a jewel: windows, Historic Sculpture Grouping on the façade, interior architecture, symbolism, history. Lunch. Departure the the capital of Normandy, Rouen. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 8 ROUEN – BEAUVAIS – AMIENS Breakfast. Rouen, city full of history and place where Joan of Arc died at the stake in 1431, in whose Cathedral lies the heart of Richard the Lion Hearted. Lunch. Departure for Beauvais. In Beauvais the obsession for the height and the thinness of the walls made the Cathedral of Saint Peter suffer repeated collapses, leaving the Cathedral, surprisingly without naves. After a short tour, we will continue to the vicinity of Amiens. Again we will enjoy the protagonism of the architecture (principal Gothic work from the 12th century) and the sculpture with its three doors made between the years 1226 and 1236 with the representation of the Good God, or the golden door of the Virgin, which occupies the central column (from the 14th century). Dinner and lodging.

DAY 9 AMIENS- PARIS – MADRID Breakfast and departure for Paris to take the return flight to Madrid. Arrival and END OF TRIP
