Madrid, Extremadura and Lisbon

DAY 1 PLACE OF ORIGIN – MADRID Departure from our point of origin on a regular flight bound for Madrid. Arrival in Barcelona and meeting with the attendant. Transfer to the hotel. Orientation meeting and free time. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 2 MADRID Breakfast. Guided panoramic tour through the city of Madrid, capital of Spain since Philip II selected it in the 16th century. During the visit we will see the Plaza Mayor, the Plaza de Oriente, location of the Royal Palace, The Cathedral, the Church of San Franciso the Grande, the Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol, Street and Puerta de Alcalá, Paseo de the Castellana, Paseo of the Prado, Retiro Park, Plaza de España, Columbus Square, Bullring, Plaza de Cibeles, Neptune, etc. Free time. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 3 MADRID Breakfast. We will visit the Prado Museum, the art gallery of Madrid that holds the most comprehensive collection of Spanish painting from the 11th to the 18th centuries, and many of the masterworks of the greatest painters of universal importance, like El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, Bosch, Tiziano, Van Dyck or Rembrandt. Then, we will visit Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, which belongs to the Real Madrid Football Club. Free time. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 4 MADRID – EXCURSION TO TOLEDO Breakfast and departure for Toledo, known as the city of three cultures, for having been inhabited for centuries by Christians, Jews and Muslims, as well as “The Imperial city,” for having been the principal seat of the court of Charles I of Spain. Panoramic tour of the city where we will contemplate the Cathedral, which we will visit, the Alcázar, the Synagogue of the Tránsito, and the Church of Santo Tomé, which we will also visit. Return to Madrid. Free time. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 5 MADRID – TRUJILLO – MERIDA Breakfast. Departure for Trujillo, birthplace of the discoverer Francisco Pizarro and one of the prettiest cities in Extremadura: the Castle, the Main Square, the Bejarano, Altamirano and Chaves Alcázares, Municipal palace or the Palace of the Dukes of Saint Carlos, and other monuments of great historic-artistic importance. Continuation to the Extremaduran city of Mérida Afternoon free. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 6 MERIDA – EXCURSION TO CACERES Breakfast. We will visit Mérida, inheritor of a glorious Roman past, where we can contemplate one of the best preserved archeological complexes in Spain: its Theater, its Amphiteather, or its Temple dedicated to the goddess Diana. In the afternoon, we will visit Cáceres. This very attractive and well preserved city with an exceptional Old Town is a worthy holder of the title of World Heritage City. Its stately and emblazoned houses transport us to a glorious period in Spain. In the heart of the city unforgettable places like the Golfines (Upper and Lower) await us, as well as palaces possessing some of the most decorated and showy facades of the Monumental Complex. Afternoon free. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 7 MERIDA – BADAJOZ – EVORA – LISBON Breakfast. Departure for Badajoz, where we will stroll through the historic center and see the two towers from the 15th century, the Puerta de Palmas, flanking the entrance. We will admire the ancient squares of Saint Joseph, Spain and the Plaza Alta. Continuation to Evora. With its well preserved historic center, in terms of monuments it is one of the richest in Portual, making it worthy of the epithet of City Museum. The historic center was declared a World Heritage Site in 1986. Lunch. Afternoon departure for Lisbon. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 8 LISBON Breakfast and departure to take a panoramic tour of this beautiful Portuguese city, capital of the Republic, located on the banks of the mouth of the Tagus River. We will tour the Hieronymites Monastery, Belem Tower, Rossio Square, the Lisbon Greenhouse, etc. In the afternoon free time to continue visiting this pretty city. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 9 LISBON – EXCURSION TO SINTRA, CASCAIS AND ESTORIL Breakfast and departure for a tour of of Sintra, a city declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO that features the Pena Castle, summer residence of the monarchs. Continuation of the tour to enjoy the beautiful towns of Cascais, famous for its beaches, and Estoril, adorned with palm trees, mansions and gardens. Return to Lisbon. Afternoon free. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 10 LISBON – PLACE OF ORIGIN Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight to our point of origin. End of services.
