Heart of Holland and Flanders

DAY 1 MADRID – BRUSSELS Meeting in the airport two hours before the departure of the scheduled flight for Brussels. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 2 BRUSSELS Breakfast and Panoramic tour of this lovely city in which we will see from the outside the Royal Palace, Palace of Justice and the famous Grand Place, Maneken Pis. After the Panoramic tour, departure for Bruges. Lunch. Continuation to Ghent. Return to Brussels. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 3 BRUSSELS – MADURODAM (Exc. ROTTERDAM – THE HAGUE) Breakfast and departure for Madurodam, “thesmall Holland”. Tour and continuation to Rotterdam, to visit by boat one of the largest ports in the world. Continuation to The Hague, city where the Dutch government and the International Court of Justice are found. Tour on foot through the historic center and Lunch in a restaurant in the area. In the afternoon we will visit “Panorama Mesdag”, a panorama of the coast de Scheveningen some 120 mts long and painted by H.W. Mesdag in 1881. We will continue on to Amsterdam. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 4 AMSTERDAM Breakfast. Tour of the city of Amsterdam, capital of Holland. Tour of the city by boat and late on foot through the historic center to appreciate the houses of the rich Dutch merchants of the Golden Age, Dam Square, the Jordaan neighborhood, etc. We will visit the Rijksmuseum with the famous painting by Rembradt, “The Night Watch”. Lunch in typical restaurant and excursion in boat through the canals. Afternoon free. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 5 AMSTERDAM (Exc. UTRECHT – OUDEWATER AND GOUDA) Breakfast in the hotel. Departure for the city of Utrecht, of great historic importance, where we will visit Domtoren, Bell tower de the old Cathedral destroyed by a hurricane in 1674 and the “Museum van Speelklok tot Pierement”, with its barrel organs and other curious musical instruments that is considered the most important museum of instruments in Holland. Time to go for a walk through the historic center to appreciate the canals and the typical Dutch architecture. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we will pass through Oudawater, small city with intense medieval flavor and where they still weigh people in the famous scale of Bruges. Continuation to the city of Gouda, famous for its cheese, for its City Hall from the 15th century, the windows of the Church St. Jan, the candle industryand its cookie “ stroopwafels”. Return to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 6 AMSTERDAM (Exc. LELYSTAD – ENKHUIZEN – VOLEDAM AND MARKEN) Breakfast. During the excursion today how the Dutch gained earth from the sea will be explained and how life was in the fishing villages around the “Ij-sselmeer”, the old “Zuiderzee”. Formerly the “Ijselmeer” Lake belong to the North Sea and it is curious to see how here the Dutch won land from the sea converting this bay in to a lake constructing a grand dike. Tour of the Museum “Nieuw Land” in Lelystad. Then Departure for Enkhuizen, where we will visit the Binnenmuseum that occupies 12 houses and warehouses from the 12th century, then we will go by boat to the Buitenmuseum, outdoor museum that presents the vision of how the fishing villages on the banks of the Zuiderzee were between 1880 and 1932. Lunch in an area restaurant. Afternoon tour of the town of Voledam and from there we will cross by boat to Marken. Return to Amsterdam. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 7 AMSTERDAM (Exc. DE HOGE VELUWE) Breakfast and departure for the “National Park of Hoge Veluwe” where we will spend the day. Here we will be able to enjoy the Dutch flora and the fauna, utilizing its most used means of transportation, the bicycle, since we can visit the park on bicycle or on foot, by routes marked by signs. Tour of the Museum “Kröller Möller”, one of the most important museums in Holland, for the quantity of paintings by Van Gogh that are preserved here, in addition to works by other great painters like Picasso, Mondrian, etc. Lunch in the park with a typical Dutch specialty, pannekoeken. Free time. Return to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 8 AMSTERDAM – BRUSSELS – MADRID Breakfast. Tranfer to Brussels. Free time until time to transfer to the airport to leave on a regularly scheduled flight for Madrid. Arrival and END OF TRIP
