SOUTH OF ANDALUSIA, CEUTA AND GIBRALTAR (4 DAYS OR MORE)

DAY 1    MADRID – ALGECIRAS

Meeting at the agreed on time and place to leave by coach for Algeciras. Lunch en route. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 2    ALGECIRAS – TARIFA – ZAHARA DE LOS ATUNES – BARBATE – VEJER DE LA FRONTERA – MEDINA SIDONIA – ALGECIRAS

Breakfast. Departure for the city of Tarifa, millennial city situated on the southern most point of Spain, fourteen kilometers from Africa. Tarifa has valuable Cultural Heritage. Prehistoric remains are very abundant. Various Roman cities sit in the municipality of Tarifa; the most important of them is Baelo Claudia, today catalogued as Archaeological Historic Grouping. Continuation to Zahara de los Atunes, where the remains of what once was the Castle of the Almadrabas, including the walls and the palace, can be found. Continuation to Barbate, where we highlight Town Hall and the Old Market. Departure for Vejer de la Frontera, which has an impressive Cultural Heritage, declared Historic-Artistic Complex in 1976. We will continue  the route to Medina Sidonia, founded by Phoenicians from Sidon. It reached its heyday under the Muslim invasion. Different military orders, like those of Saint James or Saint Mary, had their seat in the city under Christian dominion. Lunch and free time. Departure for Algeciras. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 3    ALGECIRAS – Excursion to Ceuta

Breakfast. At the designated time tranfer to the port of Algeciras where we will take  the ferry that will take us to Ceuta. Meeting with the coach and the guide to take a panoramic tour of the city. Ceuta is a Spanish and European city in the north of Africa, bridge that unites two continents, where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean converge, example of coexistence of four cultures: Christian, Muslims, Jews and Hindus. To get to know these four cultures, the marvelous climate, its coasts and its historical heritage justify a visit that you will never forget. The visita ends at the lookout of Mount Hacho next to the hermitage of Saint Anthony, which offers spectacular views over the Straight of Gibraltar and the City. Lunch and free time. Return to the port to leave on the return ferry to Algeciras. Arrival in Algeciras, transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 4    ALGECIRAS – EXCURSION TO GIBRALTAR

Breakfast. Departure for the city of La Línea de la Concepción to cross customs and enter the British colony. Panoramic tour of the city. During the tour we will have the possibility to go up in the cablecar. From this point we can contemplate panoramic views of the Straight of Gibraltar which allows us to see Africa to the south, the city of Gibraltar to the west, as well as of the Bay of Gibraltar. A view to the North offers us a panoramic view of the Airport of Gibraltar and of Spain, and if we observe to the east, we can contemplate the blue horizon of the Mediterranean Sea and the Beaches and cities of the Costa del Sol. Every corner in the rock oozes history.  Lunch. Free time and at the agreed upon time, return to Algeciras. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 5    ALGECIRAS – MADRID

Breakfast. Departure in coach for  Madrid. Lunch en route. Arrival in Madrid and END OF TRIP
